Tuhaf görünüşleri ve sıradışı tavırlarıyla Amerika’da en uzun süreyle yayında kalma rekorunu kıran The Simpsons, yayın hayatına 1987 yılında Tracy Ulmann Show’da kısa skeçler olarak başlamıştı. Animasyon dünyasında çığır açan bu ‘uçuk’ aile, yarım saatlik çizgi dizi formatına dönüştürülürken orijinal karakterlerin görünüşleri de değişti. Kısa bir süre sonra da televizyon tarihinin en önemli yapımlarından biri oldu.

DÜNYANIN EN ÜNLÜ AİLESİ
Liseyi sonunculukla bitirebilen Homer, lise aşkı Marge ile evlendikten sonra Springfield’ın orta sınıf ailelerinin yaşadığı Evergreen Terrace’da bir yaşam kurdu. Üç ‘ilginç’ çocukları oldu. Homer zaman geçtikçe birayı, donat’ları, Marge’ın hazırladığı pirzolaları ve İspanyol kanalında Bee Guy’ı sevdiğini fark etti; bir de patronu Mr. Burns ve komşusu Ned Flanders’dan nefret ettiğini. Marge ‘kutsal aile birliği’nin, kutsal tarafı. Tam bir iyilik meleği, çocuklarını ve tüm olumsuzluklarına karşın Homer’ı çok seviyor. Hayattaki tek lüksü, her gün yerçekimine başkaldıran uzun mavi saçlarını yaptırmak. Saksafon çalmasının yanı sıra okula gidiyor olmasını ‘keyif aldığı uğraşlar ‘ arasında sayan Lisa, herkesin onun bir vejeteryan olduğunu bilmesini istiyor ve yaşamda en çok istediği şey (dünya barışından sonra) bir midilli. Bart ise tam bir felaket. Kilisedeki ilahi yazıları uydurma metinlerle değiştirmesi ‘icraatlarına’ sadece masum bir örnek.cnbce
